MUM: Game Changers

The most successful franchise in the Indian T20 League always starts as one of the most capable teams in the tournament. Mumbai Team has always been a star studded franchise with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Zaheer Khan, Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard being a part of the team in the past. Rohit Sharma has been leading this side with a lot of success having won 5 tournaments between 2013 and 2020. Mumbai are only the second team in the league to have successfully defended its title in the year 2020. Mumbai had their worst season in 2022 when they finished at the bottom of the table and would hope for a turn around this season.

Mumbai Players who could be the Game Changers in the 16th Season

Rohit Sharma

Rohit has been one of the most successful batters in the league with 5880 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of almost 130. Rohit is approaching the 6000 runs milestone and is only behind Virat, Shikhar and Warner in terms of all time run getters. Rohit has the highest numbers of sixes amongst the top 5 all time run getters with 240 maximums to his name and lives up to his moniker of Hitman. If Mumbai needs to succeed in the early part of the league, Rohit has to fire at the top.

Suryakumar Yadav

The new Mr 360, or as he is popularly known, SKY has been a mainstay at the crease for the Mumbai team since the 2018 season and is known for his big hitting abilities and the totally unorthodox batting style. Although Surya has been out of touch for a few months, the Mumbai team will have a lot of hopes from this talented batter. On his day, SKY is impartial to any bowler and smashes all of them to each and every corner of the ground. A total crowd entertainer with a calm head on his shoulder, Surya is a future leader and an important spoke of the Mumbai wheel.

Jofra has also worked on his batting abilities and if needed might hit a few maximums into the crowd.

Dewald Brevis

A young prodigy so fascinating that you get the nickname associated with the greatest T20 batter of the modern age, Baby AB, Dewald Brevis is a player for the future. Having been bought by the Mumbai franchise in last year's auction fresh off a Under-19 World Cup where Dewald was the Player of the tournament, his life has been a roller coaster as he is being signed by a lot of international franchises. Brevis holds the record for the fastest 150 in T20 Cricket where he took a meager 52 balls to complete 150 runs and broke Chris Gayle’s record. Piyush Chawla

Number 6 on the list of all time wicket takers in the Indian T20 League, Piyush Chawla has been playing franchise Cricket since 2008. Having started playing in the league for the Punjab team, Mumbai franchise bought Chawla in the 2023 auctions at his base price. Chawla has a great googly and knows how to use it well and pick up those crucial wickets for his team.

Cameron Green

The Aussie All-Rounder was the second highest paid player of the 2023 auctions after Sam Curran and led to a bidding war between the teams. The young talented Cricketer from Western Australia made his international debut against India in December 2020 and has since been in the news. Fresh off a maiden Test century in the last test against India in March, Green would be raring to go and make a mark in the Indian T20 League and would hope to live up to his massive price tag. Green’s tall frame not only helps him get those big sixes but helps him bowl with pace and bounce.
