DC: Game Changers

Delhi Capitals is one of the oldest teams in the Indian T20 League. The Delhi team has played all the Indian T20 League seasons so far, although it has not succeeded in lifting the prestigious Indian T20 League trophy the Delhi Capitals are looking like a strong contender for the Indian T20 League as the team has selected some of the best players for this season. However, in a recent blow, Rishabh Pant will miss out on the upcoming season as he is still recovering from his injuries. That being said, the team looks prepared at performing to the best of their abilities in the 16th season of the Indian T20 League.

DC Players who could be the game changers in the 16th season of the Indian T20 League

David Warner:

The Delhi Capitals key at the top of the order will once again be David Warner, a well-oiled machine who enjoys the added responsibility of leadership. Warner was the top run getter for DC in the previous year. With the help of five 50+ scores, the Aussie southpaw scored 432 runs at an average of 48.00 and a formidable strike rate of 150 in over 12 innings. In what could be his last few seasons in the league, Warner would want to leave a long lasting impression with his leadership and his batting.

Prithvi Shaw:
The explosive opener will try to get his side to strong starts in the powerplay yet again in the Indian T20 League. No one has scored more frequently in the powerplay than Prithvi in recent years, and the little powerhouse will attempt to live up to his billing. An outstanding season might earn him a call in the longer format for the national team which has some vacancies due to injuries to critical players like Pant and Shreyas. Shaw and Warner, on their day, could give any bowling attack a run for their money.

Anrich Nortje:
As he was still recovering from an injury, Nortje wasn't at his best during Indian T20 League 2022, but the Proteas express has since regained his form. He performed brilliantly for the Pretoria Capitals in the recently concluded SA20, finishing as their leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 13.25 and an excellent economy of 6.18. Nortje would definitely want to replicate the success for Delhi in the upcoming season and would make the batters dread against his serious pace.

Mustafizur Rahman:
The 27-year-old pacer is one of the wittiest and canny bowlers of contemporary times. His leg-cutters, slower deliveries, and back-of-the-hand deliveries are always dreaded by the batters. The Bangladeshi bowler has run from pillar to post to ace these deliveries and will be a key component in the bowling line-up for the  Delhi Capitals in Indian T20 League 2023. In 46 Indian T20 League games so far, Mustafizur Rahman has bagged 46 wickets and has a decent economy of 7.80.

Lungi Ngidi:
Lungi Ngidi, the South African cricketer who plays for the Delhi franchise in the Indian T20 League is a tall imposing paceman, who can reach speeds in the 140s kmph and is as comfortable opening the bowling as he is at the death. One of South Africa’s and Capital’s most promising prospects, Ngidi will have to play a crucial role for the franchise, specially on Indian wickets where the ball tends to stay low. The extra pace that he generates could keep the batters guessing and end up playing into his hands.

Axar Patel:
The Indian all-rounder was in outstanding shape prior to the tournament, especially with the bat and has been elevated as the vice captain of the franchise. The left-arm spinner, who hasn't had much of a chance to bowl in recent national team outings, has showcased his skill with the bat by scoring in the ODIs and getting substantial runs in the Test series. As the deputy for the Delhi Capitals, Axar is expected to play a major role in helping the team win the Indian T20 League in 2023. His left arm spin bowling could help him bag some big wickets specially at the Delhi home ground.

Kuldeep Yadav:
Kuldeep Yadav announced his return to the Indian T20 League in 2022 after being bought by the Delhi Capitals in the build up to the last season. The unorthodox left arm bowler turned things around in the last season of the  Indian T20 League season for Delhi Capitals (DC). With 21 wickets in the Indian T20 League 2022 season, he finished third amongst  spinners and fifth highest wicket taker of the tournament. As a result of the Indian T20 League's return to its original home-and-away format, DC is expected to gain significantly from Kuldeep’s inclusion on spin friendly pitches in Delhi.
